Bishop Search Committee Continues Its Work

"God of hope, I look to you with an open heart and yearning spirit. During this Advent season, I will keep alert and awake, listening for your word and keeping to your precepts. My hope is in you.”

These words from the author, consultant and thought-leader Matthew Kelly resonate particularly with members of the Bishop Coadjutor Search Committee as they continue their discernment process seeking the right candidate to become the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Southwest Florida. Members have conducted phone interviews and will be meeting candidates in person soon as the time approaches to present a slate to the Standing Committee and ultimately to the electing convention April 2.

During Advent, all are called to enter prayerful consideration of how to be prepared for the coming of Christ. Likewise, committee members are asking for the prayers of the whole diocese as they discern who God is calling to become the next bishop. May the light of Christ lead the efforts of the committee in their task so that the Diocese of Southwest Florida may flourish under its new leader.
