
Bishop Search Timeline
June 2021
Diocesan-wide survey goes out for people to share their thoughts about the next bishop.
July 2021
Survey information is tabulated and Listening Sessions begin throughout the diocese.
August 2021
Listening Sessions take place, information is gathered to place into Diocesan Profile and shared within the Search Committee to use during interviews.
September 2021
Bishop Search website is published and application period opens.
October 2021
Applications will be accepted until 5pm on October 15. Information is gathered from applicants in preparation for interviews. Reading of applications takes place and discernment period begins.
January 2022
Candidates meet with the Search Committee for a Discernment Retreat. Following the retreat a final slate of candidates is presented to the Standing Committee for approval. Petition process begins following the announcement of the final slate. The petition process closes February 8th.
February 2022
The petition process closes on February 8th and the Transition Committee takes over the search process.
March 2022
Names of petition candidates are announced. Walkabouts with final candidates take place throughout the Diocese. Delegates have the opportunity to meet the final candidates.
April 2022
Electing Convention takes place on April 2nd, 2022 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in St. Petersburg.
September 2022
Consecration of Bishop Coadjutor takes place at convention center in Punta Gorda, FL.
